President’s Message
I would like to remind
everyone that VOMCA elections are coming up. Please consider becoming a
board member or an officer. All officer positions are open to any VOMCA members
who would like to run.
Thanks to all
the volunteers who put time into the Olde Mill Swim Club this year. We had a
great year and I really did not hear anything negative. This could not have
been successful without the families who assisted and the parents who are on the
committees.
As of September 28, 2009, we have the current balances
in each account:
VOMCA Checking $ 4,129.75
VOMCA Savings $ 3,062.38
Check from Shaw and Sons for
deposit $ 1,725.50
Olde Mill Swim Club Checking
$ 19,867.10
Olde Mill Swim Club Savings
$ 16,614.52
I also extend our thanks
Barbara Radolec and Sarah Hakulin for their dedication and hard work as the
treasurers for OMSC and VOMCA, respectively. Both of these positions are almost full-time jobs and
I appreciate the effort and dedication they have shown.
The next VOMCA meeting will be on
Wednesday, October 7, at 7:00 p.m at the Old
Mill Senior High
School.
―Tom Stag, President
Homecoming Parade Will Affect Traffic on Saturday
Watch for traffic delays between 10 a.m. and 12 noon this
Saturday, October 3. The annual Old Mill High School Homecoming Parade
will cross Old Mill Road several times on its way to the school.
Regardless, come on out to applaud the students and athletes in the
parade. And take in the homecoming football game vs. South
River at 1:00 p.m.
FOOM Fall Flea Market Was A Success
The
Friends of Olde Mill would like to thank everyone who participated in and
shopped at our Flea Market at the Swim Club parking lot on Saturday, September
12. All proceeds from the FOOM booth will go toward the upkeep of the
playground. FOOM made about $300 on the rental of space and the
contributions of the community.
Thanks to Michelle Bheam, Colleen Flack, and Sarah Hakulin for their
work in helping to make this a success. Thanks also, to Rick Behringer for his
assistance with tables for our items. Thanks to all.
―Michael Hakulin, Jr.,
President

Afterward, remember to turn back your clocks one hour on Sunday, November 1.

via the email address you provide,
unless you indicate that you do not wish to receive the publication. You can
also read it by going to the VOMCA website at www.vomca.org.
VOMCA has made it possible to secure
grants from the State and County for projects like the repair of sidewalks,
repavingour the pool road, installing speed humps, and other community improvements.
If we did not have an association and volunteers, we could not secure many of
these benefits or services.
- We sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt, Santa
Visit, Community Carnival, and Community Yard Sale. With more members and
volunteers, we could do even more.
- We’ve been keeping up with what’s
happening concerning the new development on the Wade property at Old Mill
and Oakwood Roads. Learn more, come to a meeting.
- We work with local government
concerning issues that affect our community.
- Elections are held in October for
members of the Board of Directors. In order to vote, or to run, membership
dues must be mailed and postmarked by September 1.
Occasional one-time
projects at the pool and Barlowe Field come up. If you can volunteer please
email www.board@vomca.com or call 410-987-0316.
The next VOMCA meeting will
be at the Old Mill Swim Club on Wednesday, June 3 at 7 p.m.
