President’s Message
There will be a VOMCA meeting on Wednesday,
November 5, at the Old Mill Senior High
School.
Please try to attend so we can have enough members to conduct business.
I hope everyone gets out and votes on
Election Day this November 4. Also have a great Thanksgiving on November 27 and
be safe if you are traveling anywhere.
We are still working on both the VOMCA and Olde
Mill Swim Club budgets for 2009. We have secured the services of Community
Pools to manage the Olde Mill pool for next season.
There were not enough members in attendance for
a quorum at the October VOMCA meeting, so there are no minutes to publish. We
have important business to take care of—election of officers—that could not be
done last month. If anyone is interested in running for a VOMCA officer or
Board position, please contact Sarah Hakulin for more details. She can be
emailed at Board@VOMCA.org.
The No Trespassing signs have been posted at
Barlowe Filed and the OMSC area. This area is closed to activities and
gatherings from dusk until dawn. The restriction against trespassing and
loitering is being enforced with the assistance of the Anne Arundel County
Police Department.
There is still not much new information
pertaining to the Wade property on Elvaton Road and Snyder Homes’ development plans. See the article
below. As soon as we find out any more updated news, we will pass that along to
the community.

President
Members and Volunteers Needed for VOMCA Elections This Month
VOMCA members are reminded that 2009 elections
for the community association are held in November. Nominations for any
position as an Officer or Board member can be sent to the Board at Board@vomca.org
or made from the floor. You must be a paid-up VOMCA member to run.
If you can donate some time to serving your
community, please let us know as soon as possible so that your name can be put
on the ballot. Elections for all positions will be on Wednesday, November 5, at
the 7:00
p.m. monthly meeting at Old Mill High
School.
Please come
to the meeting on November 5. We were unable to have the Officer elections in
October due to lack of membership attendance. We need a quorum of 11 members of
the Association in order to hold a meeting and officially conduct business.
Girl Scouts Extend Thanks
The Girl Scouts would like to thank the
Friends of Olde Mill (FOOM) and everyone who supported their stand at the Flea
Market sponsored by FOOM in September. They report making about $73.00 to help
with their future Scout projects.

Status of Wade Property Subdivision
Snyder Homes—the developers of the Wade
property on Elvaton Road abutting our Olde Mill community—are still in the
stage of answering questions posed by the Department of Planning & Zoning. They
have met the October deadline for response to concerns not addressed in the
September Planning and Zoning requests.
Planning & Zoning has until December 12
to comment on the latest responses from the developers that were received in
October.
