President’s Message
There will be a
VOMCA general meeting on Wednesday, October 1, at 7:00
p.m. The meeting will be held at Old
Mill High School
in room A-271. We will be discussing the budgets for VOMCA and the Swim Club at
this meeting.
If anyone is
interested in running for any position for VOMCA, please contact Sarah Hakulin.
She will be taking care of the ballots and overseeing the election committee.
I
would like to thank Rick Behringer for getting the “No Trespassing” sign posted
at Barlowe Field for us. The Barlowe Field recreation area and the parking lot
are off limits from dusk till dawn. This was voted on by the general
membership. The posted sign will allow the police to move loiterers off the rec
grounds and parking area after dark.
We have been in
contact with some pool management companies concerning the 2009 swim season for
the Olde Mill Swim Club. When a decision is made on a company, the Swim Club
members and VOMCA will be notified. I would like to inform everyone that the
price will run $50,000.00 for the management company to run the pool. This does
not include other operating expenses such as utilities and administration cost.
VOMCA and the OMSC
are working on the budget for the 2009 year. If anyone would like to make
suggestions please contact a board member or a pool committee member if it
pertains to the swim club.
Thanks to the OMSC
staff for an excellent year. The season ran smoothly this year and I want to
thank Pete and his guard staff for a great job.
There was not a
quorum at the September VOMCA meeting so there are no minutes to publish in the
Crier this month.

Stag, President
Volunteers Needed to Serve as VOMCA Officers
Olde Mill Community
Association members are reminded that elections for officers of the association
are held in October. Nominations to run for any officer position can be sent to
the Board or made from the floor. You must be a VOMCA member to run.
If you can donate
some time to serving your community, please let us know as soon as possible so
that your name can be put on the ballot.
Elections for officers will take place at the Wednesday, October 1,
general meeting, which is scheduled at 7 p.m.
at Old Mill
High School. Members for the Board
will be elected at the November 5 meeting.
FOOM Event Raises $500
The Friends of Olde
Mill (FOOM) want to thank all of the people who participated in the first Flea
Market/Craft Fair, which was held on September 13. The purpose of the event was
to raise money to go toward playground improvements.
About $500 was
generated through the sale of the generous donations of items to FOOM from our
community, and through the rental of the table spaces.
Thanks to all our
shoppers and vendors who supported this community project.
—Michael
Hakulin, Jr., President of FOOM
