President’s
Message
There will be an
Olde Mill Swim Club meeting
on Monday, August 4, at 7:00
p.m.
at the pool. All pool members are encouraged to attend. There will be
a VOMCA meeting on Wednesday, August 6, at 7:00
p.m.,
also at the pool. We hope to see all members there; this is where you
may voice your concerns.
I
would like to thank Don Owens for being
Pool Director this year for the Olde Mill Swim Club. Don and his crew
have put
in countless hours to make sure that we all can enjoy the pool during
the hot
summer days. Don is out of town and if anyone has any questions
regarding the
operation of the pool, please feel free to contact me. In
Don’s absence, I will
be acting as director of the pool. Because of Don’s personal
commitments we must
find a person who would be interested in acting for the remainder of
the year. The
only requirement is you must be eligible to join the Village of Olde Mill Community Association.
As
some of you are aware this is the last
year of our contract with Community Pools. Rick Behringer and I will be
getting
quotes from various pool companies, including Community Pools as well.
I have
been checking with pool management companies and have already gotten
some
quotes for the 2009 season. Rick and I will be visiting some of the
pools to
get input from the swim clubs and how they feel they are being serviced
by
their pool management companies.
I
would like to remind everyone that if
there are any problems at the swim club please contact Peter our pool
manager.
He should be able to assist and rectify any problems that our members
may have.
If not, please do not hesitate to call me at 443-336-2913 anytime for
any
concerns at the pool or in the community.
I
would like to thank all the adult
volunteers and Hilary Radolec for their work with the Olde Mill Swim
Team. Way
to go Torpedoes!
I
would also like to thank Rick Behringer
and his volunteers for getting the new basketball hoops installed at
the court.
The Friends of Olde Mill (FOOM) donated and received a matching grant
from Anne Arundel County. I would like to express my thanks
to FOOM and all
the volunteers.
Thanks
also to Sarah Hakulin for keeping us
informed on the Snyder development. I received information that I will
scan and
see if John Tilden can get that on our web site. If anyone needs any
additional
information please contact me at tastag@verizon.net.
I
have received requests from community
households stating that the sidewalks in front of their houses that
need
repairs. Please keep an eye out for the upcoming VOMCA meeting where we
will
discuss on how we can use the state transportation grant for 2009 if it
is
awarded to us.
I
hope everyone has had a great and safe
summer. Remember to hit the Olde Mill Swim Club during the hot days of
August!

Basketball Court
Upgrades
The Friends of
Olde Mill would like to thank
Rick Behringer, Bob Hall, Lenny Cheatham, and Al Miller as well as
anyone else
who helped install the new basketball backboards on the basketball
court.
This was a heavy job and we appreciate their time and effort
donated in
doing this worthwhile job.
Lots
of children, families and young adults
have started to use our new court and equipment and it is our hope that
we can
continue to raise money to help provide more activities for everyone.
If
anyone has a free-standing basketball
backboard that they no longer want and would like to donate it
to FOOM, please call 410-987-1239. This
donation to FOOM is
good for a tax write-off.

Hakulin, FOOM President

On July 26, the
Friends of Olde Mill (FOOM) collected donations for the

a.m. to 12 noon
at Barlowe Field. No clothes or shoes will be accepted but
items
such as books, CDs, DVDs, video games, kitchen items, outdoor and
garden items,

Thanks so much to those who
have donated already and

Letters Go Out
We would like to
thank Opportunity Builders Inc. for delivering our
membership reminders to everyone so that we can increase our
VOMCA membership.
Renewals have been lagging behind last year.
With
your continued support, your community

services to enhance our neighborhood and make our voice heard
on issues
that concern us.
In
order to vote in the October and November
elections, your membership application and check must be postmarked by
September 1. You must also be a member to run for an
