June VOMCA Meeting
Date changed to Wednesday, June 11, 7:00 p.m., Olde Mill Pool
Olde Mill Carnival at Barlowe Field, June 4-7, 6 to 11 p.m. each evening
VOMCA Needs Your Membership
We need you to get your Olde Mill friends and neighbors to join
VOMCA for 2008. Memberships are lagging behind last year. Every Olde
Mill resident is welcomed--and encouraged--to join the community
association. Your $15 dues help improve the quality of life here. Call
Sarah Hakulin at 410-987-1239 for membership information.
President's Message
I would like everyone to know that the parking lot and
basketball court renovations have been completed. I would like to thank Friends of Olde Mill
for assisting us with their donation in the resurfacing of the basketball
courts. The area is looking nice and the basketball courts are being used. I have also received thank-you’s from the
youngsters who are enjoying the playing courts.
The Olde Mill Carnival will be here and running from
Wednesday, June 4, through Saturday, June 7.
The times will be from 6:00 p.m.
to 11:00 p.m. each night. Please
contact me, Tom Stag, at 443-336-2913 for presale ticket information and save
some money—a 50% discount!
The community clean-up will be done this year in June. The county will supply a dumpster down at the
parking lot at Barlowe Field/Olde Mill Swim Club. Please make sure that you only dispose of
items listed. No paints, tires, motor
oil, and some other restricted items are
to be disposed of in the dumpster. Thank
you in advance for your cooperation.
The Olde Mill Swim Club has opened up for the weekends
beginning with Memorial Day. Once the
school year ends, the pool starts daily operations. I commend all the
volunteers who have assisted in getting the pool ready. I really want to thank Rick Behringer for all
his time and effort in getting things set to go. The wading pool had a new surface installed
last week.
The June VOMCA meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 11,
at 7:00 p.m. at the swim club. Note this meeting had to be moved to the second Wednesday of the month due to the
carnival being held during the first week.
If you haven’t yet done so, please join VOMCA and become a
member. Dues are $15.00 a year and that gives you a voice in the greater Olde
Mill area. Remember the work of the
VOMCA volunteers has enabled all of us to enjoy Barlowe Field, the playground,
and the basketball courts.
We are
continuing to work with local government officials on the Snyder Homes project
off Elvaton Rd. Snyder Homes is planning to build that
development to the right (east) of the junction of Oakwood
Rd. and Old Mill Blvd. They also want to build an assisted living
center on Old Mill Blvd.
and a medical office building with an entrance from Oakwood
Rd. that will be a new road off the current
intersection with Old Mill Blvd.
Please remember the Olde Mill Carnival running from June
4-8. This is a big fundraiser for VOMCA
and allows us to assist in the upkeep and improvement of Olde Mill
facilities. This is our last chance to
make it successful. Thanks for your assistance
and participation.
