Olde Mill Residents:

I spoke with Laura from Anne Arundel County Public Works this morning.  The contractor will be back in October to complete the final phase of the road project in Olde Mill. The county apologizes for the delay.  The final phase is usually done within two weeks of the stone being laid.

The final phase will consist of a liquid asphalt that will be placed over the stones.  The final result will be a smooth surface on the roads.  Some of the roads in Olde Mill have had this procedure done in the past.  If you look at Chalet West you will be able to see what the final result will look like.

The county has a private contractor doing the work and the process is called “Slurry Seal”.  This type of road maintenance is for streets that do not fall below the 70% range.  The county has determined that all the streets in Olde Mill fall between the 70% - 90% range.  Actual asphalt resurfacing would be performed for streets that fall between 0% and 42% level and streets that fall between 43% - 69% will not have any work completed until the county budgets to do asphalt resurfacing.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at tastag@verizon.net or contact Anne Arundel County Public Works; Infrastructure Division at 410-222-4349 or visit the county web site at www.aacounty.org and click Public Works.

Sincerely Yours,

   Street Range Grade:

70% - 100% Street is good to excellent. Work to keep streets from deteriorating.

43% -  69%  Street is in need of resurfacing alternative maintenance would not help.

These streets would have to wait for allocation of money in county budget.

0% -   49%   Street is in poor condition and requires resurfacing with asphalt ASAP.
